Tradition and Pride. Many many brave and magnificent festivals! Every Year intoxicated festival gathers in Matsuri Daishugo.
This Year "Dairi Densho Festival", "Koura Gion Festival", "Kurosaki Gion Festival", "Wakamatsu Goheita Festival", "Tobata Chochin Fesitval" and "Yahata-higashi Nebuta" with gather. You can enjoy the rare chance of enjoying many attractive fesitivals in one time!
Dairi Densho Festival
Dairi Daiko(Drums) began about 1000 years ago, the beginning of Tonoue shrine. In the middle of Meiji era, the play of Chief priest Hiromitsu, as the master of drum, impressed the people and the festival in spring and autumn held actively.
In some time of Showa Era the festival was not held, but in 1971 Dairi Festival revive as local perform. Since 1986 the Dairi Daiko set on the palanquin and lightend as today.
Kokura Gion Festival
Kokura Gion is the festival of Yasaka Shrine for over 390 years. And it is specified as the cultural properties of Fukuoka Prefecture. It is said that Tadaoki Hosokawa , constructed the Kokura Castle, began Kokura Gion Festival as the promotion plan of Kokura Town. Young man pull the float with drums, hit the "JANGARA", the gong, and cheer "Yassa Yare Yare", and hit the drum with both side. All Kokura Area the drum sounds resound.
Wakamatsu Goheita Festival
Long ago "Goheita" found the "fire-stone". Since then people said coal as "Goheita".
Coals were used as industrial energy of modern Japan. Coals from Chikuho Area were carried to Wakamatsu port with the small boats called "Kawahirata". The crews of "Kawahirata" sing songs with beating the ship, and it is said that the beginning of "Goheita-Bayashi(Goheita Song)". The rhythmical melody of beating barrel cheers the audiences.
Kurosaki Gion Festival
Kurosaki Gion Festival has been held with local residence of Kasuga Shrine, Okada Shrine and Ichinomiya Shrine for a long time and it is specified as the cultural properties of Fukuoka Prefecture. Main floats of Kurosaki Gion are the doll-decrated floats, but at the beginning of the festival they use "Sasa-Yamagasa" as the former type of float. After "Oshioitori", Sasa-Yamagasa is changed to doll-decrated float and they begin the brave and wonderful festival. Kurosaki Gion is also said as "Fight Float", and we can enjoy the rounding and rounding float.
Tobata Gion Festival
The origin of Tobata Gion Festival is ; when epdemics spread all over Tobata Village in 1802 , after praying to Suga Shrine, the epdemic made to end. And the next year (1803) people made floats and start this festival. Tobata Gion Fesitval is specified as the cultural properties of Japan. And its float has two faces , in the day time the float with flag is performed gracefully with the traditional ritual, and change to the "Light-Pyramid" with 12 steps 309 lanterns. About 60-80 youth shouler the float with "Yoitosa Yoitosa" voice and they perform brave parade like picture scrolls.
Yataha-Higashi Nebuta
The new festival of Yahata-Higashi Area! Yahata-Higashi area is the "Town of Fire and Iron". The Nebuta Festival make us think of their "Fire". The Festival started 6 years ago with the voice of "Activate Area" "Dream to Children". The Nebutas -floats- are all hand-made. Nebuta's good point is ; every people - young, old, man or woman - can attend the festival with whistle, drums and dancers.
